____________This giveaway has now ended.______________

**March 16, 2010** Winners announced here: http://justaudreyblog.blogspot.com/2010/03/zevia-giveaway-winners.html

Yay! It’s time for another giveaway!

In case you haven’t heard of Zevia, it is…
  • The first all natural zero calorie soda
  • Made without any artificial flavors, colors, or chemical sweeteners
  • Sweetened with the sweet leaf of the stevia plant
All info is from the Zevia website. Click here to learn more.

Zevia graciously sent me a case of their soda to review. I admit to being a little wary because I’m not a huge fan of soda (or “pop”, as we call it in my neck of the woods :)) and because my previous experience with stevia wasn’t that positive. However, I was floored at just how tasty and refreshing this beverage was…and I am happy to report that I noticed absolutely no unpleasant aftertaste from the stevia! Here is my opinion of each of the flavors, in order of favorites.

Dr. Zevia: this flavor was, along with the cola, my favorite. It had all the peppery, cherry undertones reminiscent of another “Dr.” soda. Thoroughly refreshing and utterly tasty!

Cola: I was surprised that I liked this flavor as much as I did. Normal cola to me was usually just “meh”, but for some reason I found myself really enjoying this. One of my siblings thought that it tasted like Pepsi. I just thought it tasted good.

Ginger Root Beer: I didn’t note the ginger flavor much in this root beer, but it was—over all—quite good. The flavor wasn’t as complex and rich as I would’ve desired, but it was certainly adequate. I would love to try this over some non-dairy ice cream!

Orange: one of my only complaints about this flavor was the fact that it didn’t have any real orange juice in it. I guess this was probably an attempt to adhere to the zero calorie label. The orange-ness was thus achieved through (natural) flavorings. That little factor aside, it was lovely. Bright colored orange pop was a favorite of mine as a child and this did not disappoint.

Black Cherry: I was surprised when I opened this to find that it was clear in color. I was expecting it to be a more of a cherry cola (did you hear that, Zevia? Make that your next flavor.) I guess I didn’t read the label (see Ginger Ale postscript)! Once I got past that, I found it to be very refreshing, fun, and pleasantly fruity.

Twist: to be fair, neither lemon-lime soda or ginger ale were my favorite flavors of  “regular” pop, so it doesn’t surprise me that they are at the bottom of the list. For that reason, I’m not a very good tester. I imagine lemon-lime pop aficionados would find this to be a pleasant, uhh, twist on an old favorite(I couldn’t resist!).

Ginger Ale: I’m not a fan of normal ginger ale (perhaps because I associate it with having the flu), so I hardly find myself an impartial judge of this beverage’s flavor. However, those of you that like ginger ale would probably like this. It is quite nearly as I remember. (P.S. When I first had this I thought I had selected the Twist and I remember thinking that it tasted really odd for a lemon-lime pop. It wasn’t until the next day that I realized my error.)

 Now, on to the giveaway…

imageAs the title of this post relays, Zevia has graciously offered to host a giveaway in which three lucky readers will win some of this amazing soda!

Grand Prize: large mixed case
Runner Up 1: mixed six pack
Runner Up 2: mixed six pack

How to Enter

Remember to leave a separate comment for each entry. Also, leave a link when applicable (e.g., Twitter, blog, etc.).
1. Leave a comment on this post telling me whether you call carbonated beverages “pop”, “soda”, “coke”…or something entirely different. (I find it interesting how one can nearly always tell where a person is from by this one language quirk.)
2. Follow this blog using Google Friend Connect (see box in the right sidebar under “Labels” and just above “Blog Archive”). Select “Follow Publicly.”
3. Tweet about this giveaway on Twitter or on Facebook (be sure to leave a link).
4. Blog about this giveaway on your blog (be sure to leave a link)
5. Add my blog to your blogroll (please leave a link).
6. Follow my blog in Google Reader or other feed reader.
Obviously, you don’t have to do all of these…but you can if you want! Each method will gain you one additional entry.

Winner will be selected randomly.

I will post the results on March 16, 2010. (The length of the last giveaway was waaaay too long. It’s STILL open! Hopefully this is a better time allotment.)

Winners will be contacted through email and Zevia will send them their free soda.

**Giveaway open to residents of the United States only**

CONTEST ENDS MARCH 15, 2010

Now hopefully I remembered everything. Let me know if you have any questions (justaudrey [at] live [dot] com).

I call it "soda" if I'm talking about about soda in general, but I only 'Do the Dew'. Although I am going to pick up some Zevia to try, I read the Dr had some caffeine in it.

I wonder if they will come out with a Dew substitute?

I typically call it soda, but given the rivalry between my friends who call it "soda" and those who call it "pop," I might start going old school and call it "soda-pop," haha.

I've never heard of that soda (yes, I call it "soda") before. Nice review. I'll tell my hubby about it, as he is the only one in the household that drinks it.
